Did you know?
The best time for the blowholes to perform at their best at Punakaiki Rocks is for the following to be at optimum.

At the peak of high tide, and an on-shore wind blowing the waves into shore. If both of those things are happening you should get a good show.

Jade Country

The Jade Boulder Gallery is New Zealand's premier Jade Gallery and studio situated in the town centre of Greymouth on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.

The Gallery is a showcase for high quality, individually designed jade sculptures and jewellery. We are a Kiwi Host accredited business and employ staff committed to friendly professional service.

Guided tours through the collection are a feature of the gallery as is the opportunity to watch highly skilled jade sculptors at work and gives a unique insight into the world of modern jade sculpting.

The Jade Boulder Gallery Discovery Walkway is a “please touch” exhibition - giving visitors a deeper understanding and appreciation of the origins and discovery of jade. This fascinating display is as close as most come to seeing the stone in its natural environment.

The Jade Boulder Complex provides excellent facilities including the newly refurbished Jade Boulder Cafe providing excellent Wild Food fare and the new Jade Boulder Trail - a museum quality attraction providing a unique insight into the world of Jade - fully guided tours a must...

With Punakaiki Crafts you are buying New Zealand art from a gallery owned by the artists themselves.

Owned by a co-operative of 30 New Zealand artists, Punakaiki Crafts offers art lovers around the world the chance to view and buy the works of over 300 New Zealand artists through our online art gallery.

You'll find virtually all areas of New Zealand arts and crafts represented at Punakaiki Crafts.

As well as painting and sculpture, you can see jewellery, pottery, blown and fused glass and carving, including works in Pounamu (New Zealand jade), native timbers and bone. We also feature textiles, wearable art and accessories and we even show examples of the taxidermist's art.

Many of these pieces can now be obtained online.

And, if you don't fall in love with any work you buy, you can return it for a full refund of the purchase price - our artists put their hearts and souls into their work so we feel it's important that you love these pieces as much as we do.
