Tourism sector needs good data now more than ever
A new Accommodation Data Programme is being launched by Fresh Info and funded by MBIE.
This ADP replaces the Commercial Accommodation Monitor from the Department of Statistics which ceased supplying information 18 months ago and left a vacuum in robust tourism information making it difficult to measure marketing results.
Providing information to the ADP is voluntary whereas the CAM was compulsory so it is very important that all West Coast accommodation venues sign on and provide consistent information so Regional Tourism can plan and measure better.
Jim Little, Regional Tourism Manager says, “It is vitally important as many accommodation businesses from hotels to bed & breakfast participate in this new data collection programme. We must have this information for destination marketing and management.”
The data collected is totally confidential and the monthly reports will be regional with generic information about number of guest nights, length of stay and type of accommodation.
