Glacier Country Kayaks
Join us on a unique kayak adventure and kiwi sanctuary tour just minutes from Franz Josef Glacier! Sandwiched between the mountains and the sea, Lake Mapourika was created by the retreating Franz Josef Glacier some 14,000 years ago.
8am to 7:30pm daily
In the morning we experience mirror like conditions. You'll glide effortlessly across the lakes' glassy surface taking in panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers.
The afternoons can be a bit more adventurous as a gentle sea breeze ruffles the lakes surface! You'll enjoy dramatic cloud formations sweeping over the tallest peaks of New Zealand.
Sunset tours are available each evening during summer. All of our tours explore the Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary, home to the rarest kiwi on the planet. Navigate your kayaks into a rainforest estuary silently sliding pas some 900-year old Kahikatea trees all to the sound of native birdsong.
A kayaking experience you'll never forget!
We provide FREE digital photos for each tour.
